My Process
Every piece I create begins with a moment of inspiration—often pulled from nature, a memory, or a place that holds meaning. I start by sketching and refining a design that captures that feeling, breaking it down into shapes that will eventually become a one-of-a-kind wooden mosaic.
From there, the real hands-on work begins. Each individual piece is carefully cut by hand on my scroll saw—no shortcuts, no mass production. Every curve, line, and detail is shaped one piece at a time.
Once cut, each segment is sanded smooth, primed, and hand-painted to bring depth, color, and life to the design. When all the pieces are ready, I fit them back together like a puzzle—watching the artwork come to life layer by layer.
The frame is just as intentional. I carefully select the wood based on the piece—considering tone, grain, and character—then build each frame by hand in my workshop to complement the artwork it holds.
Because of this process, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each one carries its own story, its own variations, and its own personality—making it truly one of a kind.
Featured Artwork
This original wooden mosaic presents a striking interpretation of a hibiscus in full bloom, rendered with depth, movement, and refined detail. The layered petals are carefully shaped to create a natural sense of dimension, drawing attention to the flower’s vibrant form and central structure.
Each element is individually hand-cut, shaped, and painted, then precisely assembled to achieve a cohesive and balanced composition. The rich tones of the mahogany backer provide warmth and contrast, enhancing the vivid coloration of the hibiscus while adding visual depth.
The piece is framed in solid purpleheart, selected for its distinctive color and fine grain. The frame offers a bold yet elegant boundary, complementing the organic form of the flower while elevating the overall presentation.
The result is a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects a disciplined approach to craftsmanship and material selection, while capturing the timeless beauty of a tropical bloom.
